Family
class
Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada, 19 years of age or
older, may sponsor close family members who wish to immigrate to Canada.
Sponsors must agree to support the family member and accompanying dependents
for 10 years, to help them settle in Canada.
Other Classes
Refugee and
Humanitarian class
Applicants in this class are admitted under special rules. We
handles refugee claims, and would be happy to meet
with refugee claimants once they have arrived at the Port of Entry in Canada.
Independent and other class
you can apply on your own, with or without the financial help of relatives in
Canada. For an independent applicant, everyone is assessed on a point system.
Points are given for various things: Education; job training; work experience;
occupation; arranged employment; age; demographic factor; ability to
communicate in either English or French; personal suitability; having a
relative living in Canada.
Point
Count Critical to Success:
Your application is accepted or rejected on your point count, and it is
important to know that the most important factor of work experience and
occupation is one that is difficult to assess the points awarded. The list
that has been given to the public by Canada Immigration is not complete, and
therefore, if your work history is not adequately described on the occupation
list, it would be clever to get an opinion from a lawyer. If you are
successful, then it is necessary to have a medical examination and your
background checked to ascertain any health or legal reasons that would stop
you from being admitted to Canada as a permanent resident.
